OUR HISTORY
THE NEWS IN REVUE began as Nancy Holson's dream in a 1991 workshop in Norwalk,
Connecticut. Along with Steve Sasloe as Musical Director, she recruited a local cast and mounted
the first production of "The News." The response was so enthusiastic that Phyllis, Mel and Nancy
Holson decided to form ADF Productions, Inc. and take the show to New York. It ran Off
Broadway for 120 performances during the 1992 election season. During that time, it was well reviewed
by the New York press.
Since then, the group has had resident troupes in Westport and Greenwich, CT and seasonal
troupes residing in cities such as Sarasota, FL and Vail, CO. In recent years, the troupe
wintered in Florida at both the Coconut Grove Playhouse and the Hollywood Playhouse.
In the summer of 1994, the group began their string of summer runs in the Berkshire Hills of
Massachusetts, where they have become a staple in the area’s rich cultural arts scene.
In 2006, a collection of songs from THE NEWS IN REVUE were the basis of a scathingly funny
Off Broadway show called BUSH WARS.
In addition to performing public shows, the group has performed at numerous corporate and
political functions throughout the country, including shows for various dignitaries such as
President Gerald Ford, Cabinet members, Senators, Congressmen, Mayors, and the Speakers of
the House from all 50 states. THE NEWS IN REVUE has also performed for groups as diverse as
Wall Street investment companies and the Bankruptcy Bar Association, U.S Tobacco and the
American Lung Association.
The group has performed eight television specials which have aired nationally on PBS stations.
From this, the shows were nominated for 15 Emmy awards and have received five statuettes
(three for acting, one for writing, and one for overall entertainment program).
